Today I took a walk through Hubbard Park in Shorewood — and let me tell you, this spot is such a vibe. Tucked right along the Milwaukee River, it’s the kind of peaceful place that feels like a hidden escape from the city noise.
The weather was perfect, and the scenery? Even better. I brought my camera along to snap some photos and take video clips to really capture the energy of the park — the flowing river, the towering trees, and the calm paths full of people walking, biking, or just soaking in the moment.

🎢 A Little History of Hubbard Park
Before it became the peaceful riverfront retreat we enjoy today, Hubbard Park had a long and surprising history — including a stint as an actual amusement park!
Back in the early 1900s, the area was part of Ludemann’s-on-the-River, a popular riverside resort and amusement destination. Families from across Milwaukee would come by streetcar to enjoy music, food, dancing, and boat rides. The park was alive with entertainment, a beer garden, and even a carousel, giving Hubbard Park its early reputation as a vibrant community hangout.
In the decades that followed, the area was transformed for transportation — becoming a stop for the Chicago and Northwestern Railway. The iconic stone tunnel still standing today is a relic from that time.
Eventually, the village of Shorewood embraced the space as a public park and community gathering place. The name Hubbard Park honors William J. Hubbard, a beloved Shorewood village manager who helped protect and preserve the natural beauty of the space.
Today, Hubbard Park offers calm walking trails, river views, and family-friendly vibes — but hidden in the trees and stone walls are echoes of its thrilling past.
