If you’ve never experienced Bastille Days, you’re missing one of Milwaukee’s most unique summer traditions! Every year, Cathedral Square Park transforms into a lively French-inspired village filled with incredible food, live music, entertainment, shopping, and one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks—the famous 43-foot Eiffel Tower replica.
Parking:
Opening night is over; the weekend problem is crowd volume. For Friday and Saturday, the cleanest plan is still The Hop or a garage chosen before leaving. The Hop is running extended Bastille service until 1 AM Friday and Saturday, and all summer streetcars are operating on the F-Line.
Current setup note: the City of Milwaukee DPW special event permit lists festival street closures from 10 AM Monday, July 6 through 5 PM Monday, July 13. Treat the Cathedral Square edge as a walk-in zone, not a drop-off or parking target.
Closed-street core: E Kilbourn Avenue from Milwaukee Street east toward Van Buren, N Jefferson Street from Wells to Kilbourn and Wells to Mason, N Milwaukee Street from Kilbourn to State, N Jackson Street from Wells to State, and E Wells Street from Milwaukee to Van Buren.
The Hop is free, all summer service is operating on the F-Line, and Bastille service runs until 1 AM Friday and Saturday. An additional afternoon car is also expected during the festival window.
Whether you’re craving warm crepes, flaky croissants, French pastries, or a refreshing glass of wine or beer while enjoying live music, there’s something for everyone. You’ll also find local vendors, family-friendly activities, street performers, and plenty of photo opportunities throughout the festival.
One tradition you won’t want to miss is the Storming of the Bastille 5K Run/Walk, where thousands of participants race through downtown—many wearing colorful costumes and berets—to kick off the celebration in a fun and memorable way.
