Every summer, neighborhoods across Milwaukee come together for one of the city’s most anticipated community events—National Night Out! If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly evening filled with free activities, food, games, music, and opportunities to meet your local police officers, this is an event you won’t want to miss.
In 2026, all seven Milwaukee Police Districts will host their own National Night Out celebrations, giving families across the city multiple opportunities to enjoy an evening of community spirit—and every event is FREE to attend!
What Is National Night Out?
National Night Out is an annual nationwide event held on the first Tuesday in August. The goal is to strengthen relationships between neighbors, law enforcement, firefighters, and community organizations while promoting safer neighborhoods.
What started in 1984 as neighbors turning on their porch lights and gathering outside has grown into a nationwide celebration involving millions of people each year. Today, National Night Out features block parties, community festivals, cookouts, games, safety demonstrations, and family activities designed to bring communities together in a positive way.
