For one day only, one of Milwaukee’s most iconic streets transforms into an 11-hour celebration packed with live music, amazing food, local artists, shopping, cold drinks, and nonstop energy. With three entertainment stages, dozens of local restaurants, hundreds of vendors, and thousands of festival-goers, there’s something for everyone.

History of Brady St Festival
🎉 Did You Know? Brady Street Festival Has Been a Milwaukee Tradition for More Than 50 Years! 🎉
Before Brady Street became one of Milwaukee’s hottest destinations for restaurants, nightlife, coffee shops, and unique local businesses, it was known as the heart of a thriving immigrant community.
In the late 1800s, Brady Street served as the main business district for Milwaukee’s growing Polish neighborhood. By the mid-1900s, it had also become home to a large Italian community, giving the area its rich cultural flavor that can still be seen today.
Then came the 1960s and ’70s…
Brady Street transformed into Milwaukee’s version of San Francisco’s famous Haight-Ashbury, becoming the city’s counterculture hotspot filled with artists, musicians, free spirits, and small independent businesses. Out of that movement came the very first Brady Street Music Festival in 1973. Even though the inaugural festival was rained out, the following year nearly 20,000 people packed the street, launching what would become one of Milwaukee’s most beloved summer traditions.
The festival eventually ended after 1981 as the neighborhood struggled with crime and decline. But Brady Street never lost its spirit. Thanks to dedicated business owners and community leaders, the neighborhood experienced a remarkable revival, and in 2007, the festival returned bigger and better than ever—with live music, local vendors, food, entertainment, and even a famous cheese curd eating contest!
Today, Brady Street remains one of Milwaukee’s most recognizable destinations, attracting thousands of visitors every year who come to enjoy its incredible food, unique shops, historic buildings, vibrant nightlife, and one of the city’s best street festivals.
